Has anybody used liquid lawn aeration?

Question by Just Sellin: Has anybody used liquid lawn aeration?
About 2 months ago I laid a new sod yard. I tilled the entire yard about 6-8 inches deep to loosen the soil to give the new sod roots a good start. Well, the yard isn’t doing so good even after continued watering. I called in a lawn care company and they have treated the lawn with fertilizers and premergers (for the weeds growing between the sod). They recommend lawn aeration and overseeding this fall which is what I plan to do. I have found a few companies that offer a liquid aeration that is supposed to be better that traditional methods such as spike or core aeration. Has anyone had any experience with this type of aeration? Aerify! and LazyMan™ Liquid Soil Aerator are two of the companies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question by mirah_music: Overseeding a lawn with a dog question?
I’m planning on overseeding my lawn. Actually, it will almost be seeding a new lawn since it’s so bare in some parts.
Now for the question – how will a dog affect the new grass growth? The dog is an inside dog. Only goes outside to use the bathroom. Should the dog go to the bathroom in the front yard (which isn’t being seeded)? For how long? Thanks for any insight!
Thanks! That’s what I was thinking. I’ll keep him off the lawn until the first mow. Luckily, the dog does not dig or do anything bad to the yard (yay!). All he does is go to the bathroom. I’m going to teach him to go to the bathroom in his corner. I’ve never thought of that before. Oh yeah, I got fertilizer that wouldn’t hurt the pup.
Thank you so much!!

i just re-did my lawn too and i also have a dog. u should block ur dog off from the grass for like the first two to three weeks and once there is pretty good growth the dog shouldn’t harm the grass at all.

Manual aeration of the lawn

We’ve had the lawn for, what, almost 4 years now. It is due for an aeration.
Aerating the lawn involves removing plugs of soil (4" deep or so, size bigger than a dime) from various places of the lawn to promote air and water to go to the roots of the remaining grassroots.
Usually lawn-care companies drive by / call / spam about services. They can probably aerate your lawn in no time, but they charge tens, if not hundreds of dollars and use a power aerator.
Instead, I, Mr. Self-Torture, decides to use a manual coring aerator to do the job. Every foot or so, I push the tool into the soil and every push I remove 2 plugs. Repeat ad nauseum, until entire lawn is covered.
Took me an hour to cover all 4 pieces of my lawn in the front, and another half-hour to pick up all the plugs. (normally the plugs would dissolve after heavy rainfall, but they’ll interfere with my reel mower, so I remove them.)
It wasn’t super hard work, and involved more of the upper body than I anticipated.
